Church of Saint Marina and Saint Therapon

Approximately in the center of the village stands the large church dedicated to Saint Marina and Saint Therapon, the two patron saints of the village. The need to build this large church arose when the two smaller churches—Saint Marina’s Church and Saint Therapon’s Church—could no longer accommodate the faithful. In the past, Sunday services would alternate between the two churches. Specifically, as Father Marios Panteli explains in his interview: “After 1974, with the creation of two settlements housing many refugees in the village, the need for a large church emerged because both smaller churches were too small to hold the congregation, especially during major celebrations. After numerous efforts, fundraising campaigns, and events, we managed to build the large church. It was completed in 1996 and began functioning normally. However, many works still needed to be done, such as landscaping the area around the church. The church was fully completed in 2002 and was consecrated by the Metropolitan of Kition, Chrysostomos, on November 24, 2002. The crosses on the church walls contain Holy Myrrh.”
Church of Saint Therapon
The small church of Saint Therapon is located north of the village, specifically at the foot of Mount Stavrovouni. The villagers refer to it as the small church in the upper part of the village, as the settlement is divided into two neighborhoods. It was built in March 1773 at the expense of the local residents. It is worth noting that this appears to be the oldest church dedicated to Saint Therapon.
Church of Saint Marina
The small church of Saint Marina is situated in the lower part of the village. It is a beautiful, simple church with a modest bell tower and a gabled roof covered with tiles.
Church of Saint George
Saint George’s Church is located in the village cemetery. It is a small chapel with a pitched and tiled roof.
Church of Saint Arsenios of Cappadocia and Saint Ephraim
In 2007, Father Ioakeim from Larnaca built a beautiful chapel on a privately owned piece of land just outside the village and dedicated it to Saint Arsenios of Cappadocia. The chapel is built in a prominent location, specifically on a hill visible when traveling towards Larnaca. Inside the chapel, there is also an icon of Saint Ephraim.
